Ectoprompt's prompter: large script text with the word being spoken lit, and a menu open on one word.

What it is

Ectoprompt is a teleprompter that follows your voice. It listens as you read, lights up each word as you say it, and waits when you pause, so your place stays in front of you and the pace is yours.

It is for anyone who reads a script to camera. In the browser it can record each take as you go, and a script can come in from a Word or text file.

The build

The web app follows your voice in the browser. The speech recognition runs on your own device and is limited to the words in your script. The part that tracks your place is written once and runs in both the browser and the Android app.

The launch order is the web app first, then Android, then iPhone.

Ectoprompt's Home page: a greeting, the scripts to pick up where you left off, and a card to open the prompter.
Home: your scripts, and a way back into the one you were reading.

Still open

  • The web app is in private testing. The public site is a coming-soon page.
  • The Android app is in test builds and has not been released.
  • An iPhone app has not been started.
